I am from the sultry and hellacious city of New Orleans. I find myself apart of what is being referred to as "Pin-Up Culture". I suppose this could mean that I dress in vintage inspired clothing, know way too much about old movie stars, or that most of my friends are local burlesque performers. But maybe that's only a small part of it.
Pin-Up Culture is more than clothing or hairstyles. It's more than burlesque shows. It's a celebration and a throwback to all things glamorous. And I truly love the glamour.
It's also an attitude. Modern-day poise and charm. It's about walking into a room, and having everyone think, "now that's a lady".
The concept of this blog is to find a voice and have a space to celebrate, promote, and educate all in the name of Pin-Up Culture, whether it's history, photography, local burlesque performances and events, or showcasing the talents of the individuals behind a retro revival.
I hope you will pop in now and then, sit back, have a drink, and unwind with us, here at The Pin-Up Lounge.
